What does Ticket Tailor do?

Ticket Tailor makes it easy for event organisers to sell tickets online. We work with over 3,000 event organisers across the world, and process over £10M in ticketing transactions per month.

What is your role at Ticket Tailor?

This summer, I am working as Ticket Tailor’s MBA Operations Intern. Jonny, the founder and director, brought me in to do an audit of current business operations, setup processes where they were needed and help develop a strategy for internal growth. 

How would you describe your experience there?

Ticket Tailor is a bit of an anomaly in the start-up world: it has grown almost completely organically and reached profitability without any investor funding. In this dynamic, there are incredible opportunities for growth without pressure from shareholders. This allows us to focus on the quality of our product and customer support while providing a relaxed but engaging work environment. 

Working here this summer has been a pleasure. I had never worked in such a small company before so it took some getting used to for me, but lunchtime games of Bananagrams had me feeling like one of the crew in no time. It’s been really valuable for me to learn about the SaaS/subscription business model while setting up processes that position the company to succeed in its next phase of growth.

Why did you join Ticket Tailor?

I joined Ticket Tailor because I wanted to experience in a tech start-up and was really impressed by how Jonny runs the company. He’s really passionate about the business but is also open-minded and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things. I was also thrilled to be able to dive into every aspect of operations and have a lasting impact. 

What is your favourite thing about the company?

The office dogs, Alfie and Lola. Their people come a very close second!

What kind of person would suit working at Ticket Tailor, and what kind of person might the environment not suit?

Ticket Tailor is an ideal company for somebody who:

  • Is self-motivated
  • Wants to make an impact
  • Likes a balance of both autonomous and teamwork
  • Wants a relaxed and flexible work environment

Ticket Tailor might not suit you if you like formal structure or are looking for a high-stakes environment.  

Tell us about Ticket Tailor’s current vacancies

These are both key hires for us at a very exciting time for the business, though the Head of Growth is more urgent.

The Head of Growth will sit on the Management team and work hand in hand with the Founder/CEO, Jonny; we’re looking for a very commercially minded person who will counterbalance Jonny’s more technical skill-set. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience growing a business – experience with startups, digital marketing or eCommerce would also be valuable but is not essential. Salary for this role will be up to around £90-100k with long term upside.

The currently advertised Right Hand to the CEO role will be a continuation of the work I’ve been doing – handling everything from billing and fraud detection to recruitment and product. It’s been really engaging to be able to work in nearly every area of the business and directly see the impact my work has had. It would suit someone who’s 2-4 years into their career who has a great transferable skill set and is looking for a work environment and business proposition that truly excites them.
