Frequently answered questions
Movemeon curates roles that often can't be found elsewhere; hiring managers (often Movemeon members themselves) come to us because they want to access candidates directly, but they don't want to be inundated with hundreds of applications that aren't relevant.
Our dedicated account managers have regular meetings with every client that is currently hiring through Movemeon; our role is to secure you an interview and make sure you receive feedback if you are unsuccessful for any reason.
By applying through Movemeon you are maximising your chances that the hiring manager will review your application and take you through to interview, and you are guaranteed to hear back either way.
If you are a senior executive likely to be relevant for our ‘Search’ opportunities (senior roles where we have been mandated on a retained basis), you don’t need to do anything differently. We will still post all opportunities on our platform, so as long as your profile (CV and preferences) is up to date and job alerts are switched on, you will be notified of these roles as soon as they come up. We may also contact you proactively for a conversation if we feel you are a particularly good fit for a specific role, but please note that we generally do not make speculative introductions to our clients.
On Movemeon, you’ll find a wide range of exciting roles in strategy, operations, consulting, commercial, and leadership across many different industries.
We work with clients all over the world - from fast-growing startups and scale-ups to well-known corporates, PE funds and top-tier consulting firms.
New opportunities are added every week, at various seniority levels and in locations worldwide, with a particular focus on the UK, France, Germany, the US (East and West Coast), Australia, Singapore, and India.
To make sure you don’t miss out, sign up for our weekly newsletter and switch on job alerts for roles that match your profile.
Yes, Movemeon is completely free for candidates to use.
Absolutely! The majority of our members are not actively looking for a new role, but are simply keeping an eye on what's out there. We also share exclusive data and insights, such as pay benchmarking, to keep you ahead of the curve.

As a freelancer/contractor via Movemeon, you contract directly with the client. This means you agree a day rate and invoice them directly, giving you full control and transparency (we ask only that you cc/bcc us on your invoices so we can keep track).
Whether you operate as a sole trader or set up a limited company is down to personal preference and typical income, and most contractors choose to take out professional indemnity insurance.
How can I calibrate my date rate / salary expectations?
Movemeon has a number of resources available to help you benchmark: compensation insights based on a survey of 5,000 Movemeon members can be found here.
Wherever possible, we will be transparent about the expected salary or approximate day rate for the opportunities we share on the platform. As mentioned in the ‘how to maximise your chances of success’ FAQ, it’s not always in your best interests to apply at the top end of the budget if you are actually open to negotiation. Transparency about the approximate range you would consider is always better at the early stages of a process, to help maximise your chances of an interview.
Movemeon was founded by two ex-McKinsey consultants who were frustrated by the traditional recruitment model, where candidates either have limited agency over the opportunities they are put forward for, or are ghosted by employers. We are transparent about all the opportunities we have available, which are curated exclusively for people with top-tier strategy and finance backgrounds, and often exclusive to our platform. We support both applicants and hiring managers to make sure every application is reviewed and you always hear back. You can find out more about our model here.
To maximise your chance of seeing appropriate roles:
- Ensure your preferences are up to date - you can edit these in your candidate dashboard
- Turn on your job alerts to be notified of new opportunities that fit your preferences as soon as they go live, directly in your inbox. For freelance/interim opportunities in particular, applying within 48 hours of an opportunity going live will significantly improve your chances of landing an interview.
- Keep an eye out for our weekly newsletter which gives a summary of roles that are currently actively recruiting and outlines the newest roles on site
- Upload the newest version of your CV - this allows us access to review your most recent experience to determine a more accurate fit for the roles we have on hand, and will allow for you to apply to opportunities more quickly
To maximise your chances of landing an interview when you apply:
- Use the screening questions carefully to signpost your most relevant experience to the role, and make sure there is reference to this experience in your CV. Keep your answers as succinct as possible - ideally no more than 2-3 short bullet points per question. Your answers here are your elevator pitch to the hiring manager, but very long and detailed answers will both undermine your communication skills and risk the most salient points being missed.
- Keep your CV up to date, and no more than 1-2 pages (with size 11-12 font and plenty of white space; it should be more of a high-level summary than a full record of your career to date), tailoring it to the opportunity at hand where relevant. The most efficient way to do this is often to include a short summary paragraph at the top, detailing your key skills, specific industry and function expertise, and an indication of where you are looking to head next. This paragraph can be adapted for each application. PDF format is preferred by most.
- When providing your compensation expectations, give a realistic range of what you would be comfortable with, even if it’s a fairly broad range (you can add further context to your expectations in the screening questions). It’s not infrequent that a role is posted with a certain budget from the hiring manager, and then they decide to focus on the strongest profiles at the lower range of their budget first, meaning candidates who applied with just the top end of the budget (but who would have had flexibility if it came to it) miss out on being part of those initial interviews. At the other end of the spectrum, applying with expectations lower than what you’d actually be willing to move for and then trying to negotiate further along the process usually ends up with only wasted time and frustration for both parties.
- It sounds obvious, but focus your time on the roles you meet all of the key requirements for. We will always outline in the job description which requirements are essential, and which are nice-to-haves.
No, membership is completely private and employers cannot access any information unless you have applied to a role with them. If you are applying to a confidential opportunity, you can flag any organisations you do not want to be put in touch with to account manager for that role.
Thank you for submitting your application. We aim to review all applications as soon as possible, typically within 1–2 weeks. If it takes longer to receive feedback from the hiring manager, we will do our best to keep you updated during the process.
If you haven’t heard back from us after this time frame, feel free to reach out to the relevant Success Manager (listed on the job description) for an update on your application status.
We don’t operate as a traditional agency, and no individual team members will have a full overview of potentially relevant opportunities to talk through. That said, one of the unique benefits of Movemeon is that all the opportunities we’re working on at any time are posted to our platform, so that you can browse everything available and put yourself forward for the opportunities that most appeal. You can filter by industry, function, seniority, and location as well as using key words, so you don’t need to waste time browsing irrelevant opportunities.
If you have a specific question about a role that is not answered in the job description, you are welcome to get in touch with the success manager for that role - their email address will be listed on the job description, or you can email info@movemeon.com and your query will be passed on to the right person.
